Green leaf – a new mark identifying eco-friendly products and services of mBank

Is it possible to protect the environment by using banking products and services? Yes! You can take out a loan to finance a green investment. By choosing a credit card made from recycled material you can reduce plastic use. Or you can open an account without visiting the bank and generating paper documents thanks to digital services. Such solutions are marked with our new mark – a green leaf.

The mark has three variants: “less CO2”, “less paper” and “less plastic”. To be marked with the green leaf, a product or service needs to meet specific criteria.

The “less plastic” symbol is placed on our products and services that reduce plastic consumption by at least 85%. This includes our payment cards that are made of 85% recycled plastic, or exclusively digital cards that do not have a physical equivalent at all.

The “less paper” mark is given to the processes of handling or selling banking products in which the use of paper has been completely eliminated. For example, accounts opened in a fully digital process may bear this mark.

The “less CO2” green leaf symbol designates products or services that reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. Such reduction must be significant and meet one of the following three criteria:

  • it must be consistent with the generally applicable norms (e.g. the EU Taxonomy),
  • it must be confirmed by an independent consultant who estimates the carbon footprint,
  • it must be caused by a banking product designed specifically to climate protection.

Our eco-mortgage for an energy-efficient house or apartment is an example of such a product.

The green leaf mark shows that a product or service helps protect the environment. This way we encourage you to choose environmentally friendly solutions.
