We started to refresh our online banking for individuals and SMEs (excluding the mBank CompanyNet platform for corporate clients) in 2018. The upgraded online banking will be easy to use and more flexible. We want to make it easier for users to adjust the service to their needs.
We are improving the design and rolling out new features gradually to give our clients time to learn them. All changes in the design and features have been developed in consultation with our clients. We spent more than a year collecting their opinions. Our team analysed over 100 thousand of responses, sent i.a. via a “Rate us” button.
Our mobile application is a safe tool enabling convenient access to nearly all services of the bank. We improve it continuously, following changes in behaviour and expectations of the users. The proof that our effort is targeted correctly is good evaluation of the application: 4.6 from Android users and 4.8 from iOS users.
App in numbers:
users, which is more than 60% active and 38% of all mBank clients (highest share in the sector)
almost 500 000 clients
who use mobile app as the only access point to mBank
of all log-ons to mBank are completed by mobile app
log-ons per user monthly on average
Application bears huge business potential. Numbers support this standpoint: 36% of travel insurance products and 10% of cash loans distributed by mBank are purchased in the mobile app.
Application upgrade in 2018
In response to the users’ expectations, in 2018 we introduced a number of new features and improvements, including:
function allowing mobile app users to open an account on their smartphones during one conversation with a consultant, with no need to visit an outlet of physically sign an agreement
paying with Apple Pay
applicable to all holders of mBank cards (VISA, Mastercard), available since the first day of this service’s presence in Poland
an option to use a smartphone to scan transfer details
the new version of the app makes it possible to scan data directly from a computer screen or a paper invoice, instead of copying or typing numbers of an address of a recipient
management (editing an existing one or adding a new one)
our mobile app allows clients having virtual cards to top up any amount just before making a transaction (for secure internet transactions)
simplified handling of transactional limits
with possibility to block a card temporarily, block foreign or non-contact transactions, define temporary limit (valid until end of day)
possibility to combine several foreign currency accounts under one card and complete transactions directly from them (with no need to order additional card to the foreign currency account)
simplified ZUS (Social Security Office) payment
new, simple payment method for social security settlements (transition into individual accounts)
possibility to complete business transfers divided into net payment and VAT tax
simplified payment to the tax authority
redesign of tax payment scenario (client choses an office and does not need to know its number)
In 2018 we implemented option to open an account during one videochat. Android or iOS users need to download the latest version of mobile app and choose an option “open an account via video”. During the chat the client is asked to take a photograph of his or hers face and ID card. Based on this information the system verifies authenticity of the document and afterwards automatically fills the motion with data. Agreement is signed with use of tele-code, thus client does not need to visit a branch or sent documents in paper. Right afterwards client has a full access to use the account – order a card, transfer money into account and pay with BLIK.
Business&More is a quarterly addressed to mBank clients. We aspire to offer interesting reading to business owners and managers who have little time to search for inspiring content. The magazine was redesigned in 2018. Every issue is dedicated to a different topic in order to explore it at depth. The selection and quality of content is a responsibility of the editors-in-chief who are experts in the relevant areas.
The magazine comes out three times a year. It is available at mBank’s corporate and retail branches and at the website businessandmore.pl.
Open a business in 10 minutes
In partnership with CEIDG (Central Business Register and Information), we have developed an integrated online business registration process. Applicants fill out one simple form to open a business in 10 minutes. The process opens bank accounts, registers the business with CEIDG and ZUS (Social Security Institution) and issues NIP (taxpayer ID) and REGON (statistical ID).
The project won the EFMA DMI AWARDS 2017 for a New Business Ecosystem.
New methods of financing online microfirms
Since 2018, self-employed individuals who sell goods on Allegro (highly-popular Polish auction platform) can use two forms of financing from mBank: cash loans up to PLN 100 thousand and overdraft facilities. Credit decisions are available within 3 minutes after filing a simple online application based on the track record of the business in the auction system. If the decision is positive, the applicant signs the agreement online or, if not yet a client of mBank, at a branch. Fees for revolving loans are only charged for the amount drawn.
The service is available to all Allegro sellers who are eligible for the programme. It is the first financial product of this type in Poland, addressed to clients who have limited access to attractive financing matching their needs.
The project is supported by a new company of mBank Group, mElements, which has integrated the system of Allegro and mBank.
