mBank awarded the best ESG risk rating among Polish banks

Sustainalytics gave us the best ESG risk rating among Polish banks. The rating objectively reflects our progress in social responsibility and sustainable development.

Our score reached 14.8 points, up by 1.1 points compared to our last year’s Sustainalytics rating. Not only did we score the highest among Polish banks, but also reached the 14th rank among over 400 universal banks worldwide rated by Sustainalytics.

The rating concerns ESG risk, i.e. our effective management of the potential risks related to environmental (E), social (S) and governance (G) aspects of our business. Sustainalytics concluded that mBank manages risk well in all the six areas under review. These concern: product management, corporate governance, human capital management, privacy protection and data security, business ethics, and integration of financial and ESG aspects.

ESG agenda as part of our strategy for 2021-2025

Within our ESG agenda we focus on climate protection, responsibility to clients and employees, and social activities. In 2021, we made significant progress in those areas. Among other things, we spent PLN 1 billion on large-scale RES investments. Together with our clients we contributed around 10% of the total amount raised by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP).
Sustainalytics is a global leader in ESG research and data. It provides high-quality analyses, research, ratings and data to investors. It also works with hundreds of companies to help them include sustainability in their business activities.
